In the beginning there was the DJ. Hip Hop culture all started with the DJ. DJ Kool Herc started it all by playing funk music in a different way. Instead of playing the whole song, he would play the instrumental breakdown part of the song known as the “break”. He threw a “Back to School Jam” to help his sister raise money for school clothes. The party took place in the Bronx at 1520 Sedgwick Ave on August 11, 1973. This back to school Jam was the first documented hip hop jam. The rest is history. Which brings us to the MTC DJ Tee.
